Description

In the industrialization process of any developing country, every sector and sub-sector of the economy has to play its part. One such sub-sector is the Small Manufacturing Enterprises. The study entailed herein provides new insights into developmental factors within the furniture sub-sector that may be used in the formulation of policies, intervention strategies and measures that will enhance the sub- sector involvement in the industrialization process. The study reveals a significant association between enterprises mobility and its accumulated productive assets. Hence, the study suggests intervention measures that can be directed to the sub-sector in clusters to exploit the collective efficiency approach theory and the ‘Fordist’ mass production theory.
