Event Description

Come hear Margot Douaihy discuss her fiery debut mystery novel, Scorched Grace: A Sister Holiday Novel (Gillian Flynn Books, February 2023), which stars one of the most exciting new characters in contemporary queer literature: a tattooed, punk rock, chain-smoking nun who sets it upon herself to solve a series of arsons in her local New Orleans. Critics and readers agree that Sister Holiday is a nun to look out for:

GILLIAN FLYNN writes:

“Sister Holiday is simply a joy of a narrator—and definitely my kind of character: flawed, dark, buoyant, and often laugh-out-loud funny. I feel like she and Camille Preaker from Sharp Objects should go on a road trip together. This novel is so much more than a mystery (which is my favorite kind of mystery), it’s an exploration of faith, love, and the worthy struggle to be a better human. I just loved it!”

Douiahy will be in conversation with award-winning writer/professor Tonya C. Hegamin, where they will talk about queerness and fiction, intersectional identities in mysteries/genre fiction, and beyond.

The event will be sure to be fire.
